The Higher professional Study programme in Medicine to obtain Medical Doctor Degree is a professional, 6-year higher education programme (360 ECTS credit points). The programme conforms to the EU norms that regulate medical education and allow workforce migration throughout Europe.

During their medical studies, students master the science and methods of medicine based on human morphology (structure), physiology (function), psychology, basic clinical practice (history taking, overall objective examination, interpretation of results, and competence of manual skills) and also gain knowledge about promotion of health and prevention of disease in the context of a family and society.

Studying medicine, students do the following pre-clinical and clinical courses of study: Anatomy, Histology, Embryology, Cell Biology, Introduction to Medical Studies, Physics, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Genetics, Physiology, Microbiology, Parasitology, Immunology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Basics of Clinical Care, Internal Diseases, Surgery, Environmental Health, Emergency Medicine and Basic Life Support, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dermatology/Venereal Diseases, Epidemiology and Public Health, Social Medicine, Paediatrics, Infection Diseases, Neurology, Medical History and Ethics, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Psychiatry, Psychology, Clinical practices in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Surgery and practice in all clinical fields.

The 6th-year research project includes a thesis based on the student’s practical research, which must be completed, written, and publicly defended.
